Continuous advances in the simulation of many processes has led to an explosion of data and the need for faster computers in the Life Sciences domain. With various instruments producing over 1 TB per day of data, new solutions must be developed that can store this massive amount of data, and then act on it. When as much of this data as is possible is held in the computer’s memory, it can be more easily analyzed and used with simple programming models, revealing new discoveries. Life sciences applications and workflow benefit greatly from large memory SMPs.
