Technology Leader to Demonstrate Server Virtualization for Aggregation of x86 Servers to Create Large Virtual Symmetric Multiprocessing Systems
Cupertino, Calif. – November 12, 2009 – ScaleMP™, a leading provider of virtualization solutions for high-end computing, today announced its participation in the 2009 International Conference for High Performance Computing Networking, Storage and Analysis (SC09) taking place November 14-20, 2009, at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. Shai Fultheim, ScaleMP’s founder and president, will present the technical session, “High-End Virtualization as a Key Enabler for the HPC Cloud or HPC as a Service,” on Thursday, November 19 from 10:30-11:00 a.m. in room E143-144. Additionally, ScaleMP will be exhibiting and demonstrating the company’s new product, vSMP Foundation for Cloud, as well as the new Direct Connect 2 (DC2) technology in booth 801. ScaleMP will also be showcasing their vSMP Foundation product line in the company’s partner booths: Mellanox Technologies (booth 1301), Dell Inc. (booth 1535), IBM (booth 1335), Intel Corporation (booths 1935 and L7), HP (booth 1025), Adaptive Computing (booth 1054) and Appro International, Inc. (booth 1200).
“ScaleMP is focused on delivering innovative high-performance computing solutions which enable organizations to use their existing server infrastructure to combine the compute power and memory of x86 servers in order to create large virtual symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) systems for compute intensive applications,” said Fultheim. “SC09 is a great audience for us to demonstrate our new vSMP Foundation for Cloud, as well as Direct Connect 2 technology, and I look forward to presenting a technical session to the HPC community.”
Based on the award-winning vSMP Foundation technology, vSMP Foundation for Cloud enables the provisioning and re-provisioning of large virtual-machine resources within existing cloud infrastructure – creating true cloud elasticity and drastically cutting costs. The new DC2 technology targets entry-level SMP customers and creates virtual SMP systems by aggregating up to four Intel Architecture systems using point-to-point InfiniBand connectivity. By eliminating the need to purchase and install an InfiniBand switch, DC2 technology lowers the cost of virtual SMP implementations by as much as 20 percent. Additionally, ScaleMP has two other products, vSMP Foundation for SMP and vSMP Foundation for Cluster that will also be available for demonstration in the ScaleMP and partner booths.

About vSMP Foundation
SMP Foundation aggregates multiple industry-standard off-the-shelf Intel Architecture servers into one single virtual high-end system for the high-performance computing (HPC) market. vSMP Foundation provides customers with an alternative to traditional expensive symmetrical multiprocessor (SMP) systems and also offers simplified clustering infrastructure with a single operating system. It supports aggregation of up to 16 servers into a single virtual SMP system, providing customers with:
• Up to 4 TB of shared memory for large memory requirements
• Up to 128 cores virtual SMP, proven scalability and record-breaking memory bandwidth
• Ease of use and lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) for applications, with simplified cluster management and storage architecture
• Improved utilization through a centralized and consolidated architecture
ScaleMP is the leader in virtualization for high-end computing, providing maximum performance and lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). The innovative Versatile SMP™ (vSMP) architecture aggregates multiple x86 systems into a single virtual x86 system, delivering an industry-standard, high-end symmetric multiprocessor (SMP) computer. Using software to replace custom hardware and components, ScaleMP offers a new, revolutionary computing paradigm. The company is backed by Sequoia Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners, TL Ventures, and ABS Ventures. For more information, please call +1 (408) 342-0330 or visitwww.ScaleMP.com.
