Large Memory Systems

vSMP Foundation aggregates multiple system boards enabling large memory footprint.  Such large memory solutions can use multiple system-boards fully-loaded with memory and running one or two processor per system.  vSMP Foundation also supports imbalanced configurations for applications that do not require a high-core-count but require large memory.  Such configuration allows one system-board to be populated with a fast processor, and the other system-boards populated with a low-speed (and low-cost) processor.  In such configurations, vSMP Foundation will present to the operating system the aggregated memory with only the fast processors, while masking the slow processors from the Operating System and the application.  Using this configuration provides significant cost and power saving at the processor level compared to traditional SMP systems.

Solutions based on large memory capabilities of vSMP Foundation are in production within the Manufacturing, Energy and Financial segments.
