VM on VM Technology Preview Sign Up
Welcome to the registration for ScaleMP's "Virtual Machine on Virtual Machine" (VM on VM) Technology Preview. VM on VM will allow you to create a virtual SMP from multiple x86 systems and, by running KVM or Xen, you can then install any number of VMs on top of the virtual SMP.
This new capability will allow you to create large resource pools -- up to 128 systems, each with 128 CPUs (cores or threads) and 64 TB of RAM -- and distribute those computing resources to all the VMs running on top. The biggest benefit to end users will be the far superior management capabilities. Instead of managing the multiple underlying systems individually you will be able to manage the infrastructure as a single resource pool.
Notes:
- All KVM and Xen supported operating systems in the virtual machines including Windows and Solaris.
- The underlying virtual SMP must be running a supported Linux distribution. Please refer to http://www.ScaleMP.com/spec.
- Supported hardware is required. Please refer to http://www.ScaleMP.com/spec.
- VM on VM is a pre-release capability and should only be considered with all the expected limitations of a Technology Preview.
Ideal Customer Profile for VM on VM Technology Preview Plan:
- A minimum of four x86 servers compatible with vSMP Foundation. InfiniBand infrastructure required. Please refer to http://www.ScaleMP.com/spec.
- Production environment of KVM or Xen running across multiple servers
