CUPERTINO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–ScaleMP™, a leading provider of virtualization solutions for high-end computing, today announced a new partnership with Boston Limited, a leading UK-based manufacturer of high performance, low-power server, storage and clustered solutions. The Boston xScaler-vSMP products deliver up to 8.5 TB RAM – the largest memory footprint for an AMD Opteron computing solution.
The xScaler-vSMP starts with 2 Terabytes (TB) of memory coupled with AMD Opteron™ Model 6386 SE CPUs at an affordable price, starting at $60,000. Incremental memory options of 2TB are available as additional add-ons.
The xScaler-vSMP is ideal for high performance computing environments with high speed memory requirements. Typical users will include:
- Life Sciences – genome assembly and de Novo computations
- In-memory database analysis
“We are very excited to be able to offer a very high memory appliance at a low cost. We know there are many customers who require a number of terabytes of memory in an affordable package. By partnering with ScaleMP, we are able to respond to our customer needs,” stated David Power, Director of HPC at Boston Ltd.
“Boston is responding to many customers’ most demanding requirements for a system which offers very high amounts of memory and fast processing. The xScaler-vSMP from Boston Ltd. gives users the ability to economically address environments where applications need many terabytes of memory,” stated Shai Fultheim, CEO and founder of ScaleMP.
