ScaleMP Customers Realize Significant Performance Increase with the Latest Generation of Mellanox 40Gb/s InfiniBand Adapters
Cupertino, Calif. – May 28, 2008 – ScaleMP Inc., the leader in virtualization for high-end computing, today announced an enhancement of its vSMP Foundation™ virtualization platform to support the Mellanox® (NASDAQ: MLNX; TASE: MLNX) ConnectX® 40Gb/s (QDR) InfiniBand Host Channel Adapter (HCA). Both vSMP Foundation Embedded, targeting integrated system solution providers, and vSMP Foundation Standalone, a software-only product used to build the industry’s most affordable four-socket solution, are now supporting Mellanox ConnectX adapters.
“ScaleMP is leveraging InfiniBand to reduce the total cost of ownership for clustered infrastructures,” says Eyal Waldman, chairman, president, and CEO of Mellanox Technologies. “We are working closely with ScaleMP to simplify High-Performance Computing environments by reducing the number of managed entities in the datacenter.”
“With the recent addition of ConnectX 40Gb/s InfiniBand adapters from Mellanox, our customers realize a significant performance increase while leveraging off-the-shelf network components,” said Shai Fultheim, founder and CEO of ScaleMP. “We have seen major improvements in the applications’ performance just by switching to Mellanox ConnectX adapters.”
ScaleMP’s vSMP Foundation aggregates multiple industry-standard x86 servers into one powerful high-end system. By using virtualization to create high-end symmetric multiprocessor (SMP) computers from off-the-shelf x86 systems, the ScaleMP solution reduces management costs of clusters, and provides up to 1 TB RAM for large memory application and shared memory system, supporting up to 128 cores.
The Mellanox ConnectX 40Gb/s InfiniBand HCAs deliver the highest data throughput and lowest latency of any industry-standard adapter available today, thereby accelerating applications and data transfers in High Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
ScaleMP is the leader in virtualization for high-end computing, providing higher performance and lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). The innovative Versatile SMP™ (vSMP) architecture aggregates multiple x86 systems into a single virtual x86 system, delivering an industry-standard, high-end symmetric multiprocessor (SMP) computer. Using software to replace custom hardware and components, ScaleMP offers a new, revolutionary computing paradigm. The company is backed by Sequoia Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners, TL Ventures, and ABS Ventures. For more information, please call (408) 342-0330 or visit www.scalemp.com.
