SAP HANA

Apache Spark

Databases and Caching

Databases such as MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, Couchbase and others benefit from (and sometimes require) larger memory. In-memory databases store the entire data set in memory and cannot operate without large enough memory. Other databases can reduce block-device I/O to local or network storage and increase performance.

Key-Value Stores

In-memory, key-value stores (like redis and Memcached) place the entire data set in memory to reach the best performance, which requires large amounts of system memory. At the same time, CPU utilization is typically not very high. This results in the need to add more nodes/instances to the cluster, simply due to memory requirements.
